Countless bridges link the banks of the Ruhr. This is also the case in Duisburg, where four adjacent railway bridges over the Ruhr Canal have been given colourful names to distinguish them from each other. After the 'gelbe’(yellow) bridge was replaced a few years ago, it was now the turn of the 'violette’ (purple) bridge, a lattice railway bridge built in 1917. Not an easy job for Wagenborg Nedlift's bridge team!
Large equipment, horizontal, vertical and heavy transport are typical for the work of Wagenborg Nedlift. This seems to contradict the ever increasing focus on being sustainable. oBut is this true? But is this true? Johan Dorgelo, Commercial Director, explains.
During the spring of 2022, Wagenborg Nedlift participated in a major project in Leverkusen, Germany. Work was commissioned by two civil contractors to remove an old railway viaduct. Wagenborg's crew then installed two new spans at the same location. This involved not only lifting but also sliding, says Peter Eijffius, project manager on this heavy duty job.
Wagenborg Nedlift’s bridge specialists attracted quite a crowd mid June. A new bridge was being installed over the Dortmund-Ems Canal and the residents of Münster came out in droves to watch the work up close.
Work is busily underway on the Emmerich–Oberhausen rail line to expand the capacity of the line and to free up the bottlenecks. The installation of a new rail bridge over the Rhine-Herne Canal in Oberhausen, which will complement the existing four bridges, is a significant milestone in the project.
For the past year and a half, there were a lot of developments regarding construction of the sustainable new water supply system in North-East Groningen. In addition to the creation of a new industrial water supply system, no fewer than 28 kilometres of industrial water lines and 44 kilometres of drinking water lines were installed.
The railway bridge over the A14 in Plate (near Schwerin, Germany) was in need of replacement. The new arched bridge was assembled next to the motorway on a tiny building site and had to be installed during a short closure of the motorway on the weekend. A nice challenge for the heavy lift specialists from Wagenborg Nedlift!
There has been much road work on the Autobahn A30 between Osnabrück and Hanover to renew the lanes and renovate bridges. The Werrebrücke is situated near the village of Löhne, crossing the river of the same name. This required reinforcement with heavy steel beams. The Wagenborg Nedlift specialists came up with an inventive solution for the installation of the beams.
