There, at the site of Zeton in Enschede, the first poly generation pyrolysis plant of Europe is built for Empyro B.V. which is completely modular and offsite.
Empyro B.V. distinguishes herself with this new pyrolysis plant (that uses biomass to produce electricity, process steam and pyrolysis oil) from fossil fuels in order to reduce the CO2 emissions. But why is this plant not just build directly onsite in Hengelo?

Safety first
“Building plants modular and off-site has several important benefits”, says Hans Jurgen Koele, project manager of Zeton. “The first and also the most important benefit is the positive effect on safety. By building off-site, you won’t be exposed to bad weather and other working activities on-site. Besides these benefits, building modular and off-site creates a high degree of predictability, which has a positive influence on safety.”

Mr. Koele is positive about the future for building modular and off-site plants. “Especially in the area of biomass and biogas we see many developments in the area of downstream processes. In this respect building modular plants off-site can be of great value”.
